What's in your Weekender?

This weekend was absolute perfection. As you know I started off the weekend with one of my besties and we decided to have happy hour and dinner at my favorite salad/pizza spot in Midtown Sacramento, Original Pete's Restaurant and Brewhouse. They have the absolute best Buffalo Chicken Salad...yuum. Seems like every time I'm in Sac, Carla and I end up at this spot so I can get my fix.

Instead of sitting at the bar Carla and I decided to fight the slight chill and sit on the outdoor patio and enjoy the amazing 80's and 90's playlist. This place always has the perfect soundtrack. As we sat and chatted for hours every song that came on would light up our little eyes and make us pause for just a moment to relive the greatness that was that particular song. Songs like Edwin McCain I'll Be, Tori Amos, What if God was one of us (not my fav but the last time I heard this song was probably high school), Counting Crew I Just Died in your Arms Tonight, there were some Backstreet Boys hits, Changes by 2Pac. I can't remember them all but definitely some classics.

The best part of a girls night out is that feeling that you don't want it to end and that you could find things to talk about until the bar closes. The cold ended up getting the best of us and we parted ways around 8:30. As I snaked my way through the midtown streets to the freeway home, I really missed this place that I used to call home. Something about a small midtown city with original bars and fusion restaurant pop ups that just feels friendly. I was never a huge fan of Sac until I moved to a suburb of the city and commuted to midtown for work. You start to really appreciate the quaint city that is revamping its midtown and doing a great job.

Saturday Scott and I hit the road at about noon and headed to the very adorable city of Windsor just outside of Healdsburg for an early 3 year anniversary celebration. I told you it would be a fly by the seat of our pants kind of thing. Scott and I have stayed in Healdsburg and loved it so he saw this cute nearby town with an adorable downtown for our little getaway. We decided we wanted a hotel surprise and hit up priceline to find a room. We ended up at the Holiday Inn Express within walking distance to downtown.

The front desk must have liked us because they upgraded us to a 1 bedroom suite with a jetted tub. And I love me a big soaking tub! Add in some jets and I'm one happy girl. Woohoo! Nothing like an upgrade.

After we checked in we headed down a uber cute local bar called Pattersons Pub to watch the Florida Game.

And guess what? Another one bites the dust!

After the Florida win we headed to the Jaded Toad which had a pretty awesome Beer Garden complete with live music. Definitely a gem!

Thank God they had these fantastic heaters cause it got a bit chilly at night. If you ever visit Windsor do not pass up this place!

Sunday was a super lazy day, we relaxed in the hotel all morning and then headed out for lunch downtown. After lunch we did a little shopping. I saw this absolutely gorgeous book in a little boutique and I wanted to buy it but $100 was a little steep. Have you ever seen something so beautiful made out of a book! I'm tempted to DIY this but geez it seams like a feat.

We also stopped by a local Antique shop where I scored this little gem that I originally wanted to paint white, but now that it's up I'm digging the gold with it's patina edges. Thank you for my present Scott!

Pretty perfect 'fly by the seat of our pants' kind of weekend. We'll definitely be heading back to Windsor in the future. A special thank you to my beau Scott for setting up this perfectly quaint and wonderful weekend for us to celebrate 3 years. It was nothing short of perfect. I'm a pretty lucky girl!

Booses!
