Love for my Mom on Her Birthday

A very Happy Birthday to my Mom! To say that we are blessed is probably an understatement because my mom is definitely the BEST in the history of all moms ever. ;)

When we were kids, both my parents worked full time and somehow my mom managed to tote both my sister and me around to each of our soccer practices and games. We were never late and we never missed a game or practice. Now that I'm an adult with an adult job, I can't even imagine how she did this with the two of us.

As we got older she was not only our mom but our friend, maybe even best friend. I tell my mom everything under the sun. We share things that maybe mother and daughter shouldn't share; but that is the perfect relationship that we have. Completely open and honest. She can read my every thought and feeling before I have even said it.

When I moved home 3 years ago it wasn't the best time in life for me. But now looking back those 3 years were some of the best years because I was able to spend so much time with my parents. When we get older our relationship with our parents changes. They are still our soft place to land but they are also our confidants, counselors and number one supporters. Everything I needed in one place. My dad would make me breakfast every morning and my mom and I would watch shows in the evenings and drink champagne all night. It was fantastic and to tell you the truth there wasn't ever a moment where I wanted to run for the hills. I just enjoyed being in that safe place with them.

I feel so lucky to have such an amazing role model for a mother. She is so driven and has two amazing careers doing exactly what she loves. She is a perfect human; showing compassion and strength in her being. She is not only a fantastic mom but she is an even better Nana! I watch both of my parents with my niece and nephew and can't wait to one day see them with my kids. Hopefully Ayla and Idean don't wear them out. Did I mention that she is funny? HA! My favorite is when she calls me about a "CD...DVD. CD! no no no DVD...." It's confusing I get it.

The best is when you say something shocking and she says "HHWWWHOOOAA!!" And her arms go out wide like someone's about to throw an enormous beach ball at her. She has the shocked face down and I never get tired of shocking the hell out of her!

Thank you Mom for always listening to me rant, cry and laugh hysterically about God knows what. I love that I have a champagne partner in you for life and that I always know that I can call you and tell you anything. I love when we go out together and people tell me I look just like you; the perfect compliment because there is no one else out there that I'd rather look like. Except Talia of course, I love when people think we are twins too. And for being so awesome that all of my friends know that you are awesome too. :)

Happy Birthday!! I love you so much!!
