I feel like it was fairly recent that I was praising the hell out of my car. It was literally one month ago that I was saying how we were off to a rough start but that she has been treating me so well. UNTIL TODAY! I'm overreacting, I'll admit it. She didn't leave me stranded on the side of deserted road or anything like that so I'll take back some of my rage.
Here's the deal, over the past few weeks I've been noticing that my automatic door opener has been sluggish or just plain not working. Yes, I do realize that some people don't even have automatic remotes and I'm sorry for that. But I do and I paid for that sucker to work. I put off going to my mechanic because I was just lazy and it would work about 50% of the time. Fast forward to the middle of last week. Queue the appearance of my nemesis...the G damn check engine light. I can't even explain my disdain for that damn light. AND guess what else? To complete my registration for the year I need a smog check. Of course I do. And no one will even do a smog check with that light on.
Thankfully my dad was around to drop my car at the mechanic to see what that damn light had to say about the health of my car and my bank account. Yesterday my dad called and said we were looking at maybe $400. Obviously I'm not happy but I gotta do what I gotta do. Today I get a call from the mechanic and he's rattling off all kinds of car jargon. Ya, I'm not tracking any of this, so how much is it going to cost? Lord help me I swear he said something about an $800 part and I stopped listening. Thankfully apparently said $800 part can wait awhile but will need to be replaced at some point. Ya some-point is not right now I'll tell you that. I gave him the go ahead on the rest of the work and went back to my desk and started brainstorming what my next car would be.
Who knows which of these I can afford but if we get to that point we'll see. I'll tell you this much I won't be buying a brand new car because I don't want to lose 10k when I drive it off the lot. I'm looking for something with like 20k miles, that would be perfection...Anyway back to reality.
I got a call at 4:45 and I swear my Chase account said "don't answer it!" My car was ready and the damage...$707! Ughh, so sad and so frustrating! I literally spent the whole day talking shit about my car and vowing to sell her asap. Then when I go to pick her up at the mechanic I see her sitting there all by her lonesome and so pretty. I jump inside her and can't help but feel an overwhelming comfort in the way she drives. There really are so many things I love about my car. Damn you German Engineering, you make me such a sucker!
In conclusion, my bank account hates me and my car, I still hate that check engine light and I'm completely torn about selling my little night rider. Why do I have such a soft spot for cars?
