Another Persian tradition for the New Year is to display a Haft Seen, or the seven S's. Each of the seven S's has their own symbology for the new year.

| This one is my aunts from last year. So Pretty. |
Here are they are:
Sabzeh (wheat sprouts) - symbolize rebirth
Samanu (sweet pudding) - symbolizing afluence
Senjed (dried oleaster wild olive fruit) - symbolizing love
Sir (garlic)- symbolizing medicine
Sib (apple) - symbolizing beauty and health
Somaq (sumac) - symbolizing the sunrise
Serkeh (vinegar) - symbolizing old age and patience
In addition to these many Iranians also display painted eggs, a mirror, goldfish and pomegranates.
Tomorrow is Persian New Year so if you know any Persians be sure to say "Aideh Shoma Mobarak" (Happy New Year).
Booses,
Shenine joon

"Aideh Shoma Mobarak, Aideh Shoma Mobarak", Aideh Shoma Mobarak!" Three times and one day early just in case I forget tomorrow :) Great spread at your Aunties too :)
