I have 13 days to book a flight...

This has definitely been a tough work week month for me and I'm feeling the brunt of it right about now. My neck and back are killing me, my wrist is acting up(beginning stages of carpal tunnel...WTF), I've been working 10 hour days everyday and damn it I NEED A BREAK. (Please don't judge me if you work more than 10 hour days on the regular...apparently I'm a baby) and I haven't had a real vacation in almost 2 years and I do only have myself to blame for that.
Even Jet Blue knows I need it and is forcing me into a vacation. I had booked a flight for my sister and I to go to Austin for my besties bachelorette last year and had to cancel last minute when St. Susie passed :(. Apparently this credit I had was only good for one year since the time of cancelation. Ruh roh, it's already a been a year. Is this common knowledge? I never cancel flights so why would I know this and it's not like they send you and email saying hey we are holding your money hostage good luck getting is sucker . So I call up Jet Blue today and give them my little spiel and first number one says "Your points only last one year and then they are gone, sorry. Looks like your points expired."

Me: "uhm yes, I'm gonna need to speak with your supervisor. Are you telling me that you are stealing my money?" No no no no no. I'll speak to your supervisor please, thank you"

Supervisor: blah blah blah blah "Ok miss, all I can do is extend your points for 13 days. All you have to do is a book a flight in the next 13 days to anywhere between now and October 25th" 

Me: "Why can't you give me 14 days?" 13 is an unlucky number I don't like it, it's like you are jinxing me, you can't give me 14 days?"

Supervisor: "Sorry miss, the computer only allows us to extend up to 13 days. If you don't book in 13 days you will lose your points and it will not be reversible. "

Me: "Errr ok, I guess I'll take it..."

I mean 2 weeks to plan a trip, these people don't know me. I've been trying to plan a beach vacation getaway since OCTOBER!

AND have I mentioned that Jet Blue only has direct flights to Longbeach, NY, Boston, Fort Lauderdale and Austin. I mean I'm flying out of effing San Francisco are you kidding me? Not that I want to go to Seattle again but please tell me why we need to fly to Long Beach first (SOUTH) to go to Seattle (NORTH)! Crap like that just ticks me off. 

I think I've decided that it's going to be Austin for an extended weekend. I'm hoping for a tropical vacation this year so we'll just use this little credit toward Austin since that was the original intent for these tickets. Can't wait for some of this!

Kidding, I know it's not like that....It's more like this ;)

In all seriousness, I've heard fantastic things about Austin and am looking forward to a fun weekend. Anyone have any suggestions for Austin? Best time of year to go? Activities? I'll take anything.
