First off, I really apologize for leaving you all high and dry last week with my lack of posts.
I'm actually starting to get annoyed by the fact that my work schedule is interrupting my life schedule.
Not only did I not blog last week, I was also only able to get to barre one time!
The combination of the two is absolutely unacceptable.
I am a firm believer that we shouldn't be living to work, but working to live. So the fact that I didn't do much living last week had me in a funk.
To say that work is crazy would be the understatement of the year and quite honestly I'm just tired of this crap. I need a proper vacation and in the next couple weeks I get to watch all of the girls on my team take their SECOND vacations of the year. Pissed.
Oh my god and I also decided to stop drinking during the week last week. Not sure that was a good idea either.
While I was away from you all I had a lot of time to think about what I'm doing in my little corner of the internet. I love this little space and seeing all of your comments and sharing emails back and forth really does add happiness to my life. Lately, I've been completely obsessed with Humpday Confessions and Friday Favorites. Who's not right?!
I think about those two posts the most every week and love reading everyone else's when the day comes. They are also my most popular posts during the week.
With that said, I've been missing the act of actually writing something that has some more emotion or personality to it. I took a stroll down memory lane and looked at some of my older posts and the ones where I really sat down to write and the post just poured right out of me. Like this one about Scott's mom Susie. I got the urge to write a little tribute to her and I sat down with my coffee for maybe 30 minutes and there it was, perfect in every way and exactly how I wanted it.
And this post about about being inspired. This was my 9th post as a blogger, before I even knew what I was doing but I found it absolutely mandatory that I put the way I felt that day in writing.
And even my introductory post to blogging felt just like me.
This weekend Scott's brother Brent said something to me that really resonated and made me want to continue to do this thing that I love. To write the blog for me and to be true to myself and the person that I am because that is what people like to read. It's elementary, I know, but for some reason I appreciated him telling me that he reads my blog and really enjoys my writing. It reminded me that I need to write more of these posts. To dig deep and memorialize myself and my life and the things that mean something to me.
Don't get me wrong, you'll still be seeing my confessions and favorites, but I'm really hoping to throw in some of these here and there too.
What do you think? Do you like reading the "deeper" posts?
Linking up with the Weekending girls.
Oh girl I totally agree with you - the Europeans have it right - work to live not the other way around!! I think you should write about anything that you find inspiration in!! I think deeper posts are great - especially when it gives more insight into what kind of person you are!!! p.s. The link is live :) Happy Monday doll! xo
ReplyDeleteI agree, there should be a balance between fun link up posts and real, well written, substance filled posts. I try to make sure that I do both. I feel like honesty is what really attracts me to people's blogs. Definitely missed seeing your posts this week!
ReplyDeleteI completely failed at blogging last week too! You'll figure out a good schedule... Looking forward to all your future posts! :)
ReplyDeleteI hate weeks like that! No fun :( I definitely agree, write for you girl!
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth with this all the time.....that fine balance between humor and really writing. I have a serious post that I'm sitting on right now....have had the courage to drop it yet but I have a feeling it will be soon. I love this post from you girl :-)
ReplyDeleteGrrr AGAIN, I lost my comment I was writing to you again!!! And it was brilliantly too! But I will try try to reach into the shallow depths of my memory to recall what I was saying.......it was something about how great I think it is that you had this realization and that you will be incorporating more of your deeper posts, because those happen to be my favorite :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading what's to come and you did indeed do a great job on your Intro post especially your description of the arrival of this "monumental moment". And I do think it was monumental that after much thought you finally decided to do this for yourself, carved out this little piece of internet just for you and your readers :)
WORK FOR ME IS CRAY CRAY too!!! Secretly I wish everyone who was busy would stop blogging every day, blogging ahead, linking up, guests posts etc. etc. because it creates this HAVE TO mentality for us all. In reality, I LOVE blogging breaks when work gets cray cray or I am on vacation. SO applause goes to you for just being you and having your priorities in check! BTW, what do you do for your work to be so cray cray? Did miss you while you were out- even checked your space a few times to make sure I wasn't missing something in my feed, lol!
ReplyDeleteHumpday Confessions and Friday Favorites are my 2 favorite link-ups... hands down!
ReplyDeleteGreat post Shenine! And yes deeper posts are great as well because someone can always relate and there is always someone that may wish they had the courage you did to write something deeper! Have a fabulous Tuesday and I hope the week is less crazy for you! (work wise!) xoxo
ReplyDeletelove these posts! I totally hear your voice when I'm reading, it's like we're on the phone ;) xx
ReplyDeleteThe "deeper" posts are my favorites - those are the ones where we really learn about the person behind the blog :) I know for me, it can get easy to caught up in fluff posts but the emotional/heart pouring ones are what make me the most fulfilled with blogging!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you! I am a teacher, and all my parents and students think I shouldn't have a life. When they find my blog, they think they've found some sort of huge hidden secret. Write about things that inspire you for sure! :) Thanks for linking up! xo
