Oh hey psycho, I mean, neighbor...

So we met our downstairs neighbor this weekend. Hmm... "met" probably isn't the proper term but if an encounter through the peephole at 4 am is considered a "meeting", then yes we met.  I'll start from the beginning. I wandered to bed around 11:30 that night while Scott decided to watch late-night tv and pass out on the couch. Some sort of noise woke me up at around 4 and I realized Scott wasn't in bed. I should state that whatever noise woke me up was very mild; I'd compare it to maybe just hearing a closet slide shut in a neighboring apartment. Point is, it wasn't loud. I get up out of bed to go get Scott and as I'm standing in the dining area there is a knocking POUNDING on the door. I'm talking fist to the door. And I'm like...

Obviously I'm startled and the fact that this rapping on the door coincidentally coincided with my going to check on Scott was just strange. Somehow Scott semi-slept through this pounding or at least had yet to register what the heck was going on. So I kind of whispered shouted with urgency "Scott!" And this guy sprang off the couch.

"What?! What!?!?"

By this point I'm already half way to the door to look through the peephole and Scott yells "don't open the door!!" Uh, I'm not a dumb, there is no way in hell I'm opening the door to anyone at 4 am. I wish I had a pic of what I saw but this will have to do.

Except neighbor man was in full on pajamas.

Scott arrives at the door with a "WHO IS IT?!?" (Neighbor man should take note that Scott does not like to be awakened from his slumber, release the kracken)

Neighbor: "This is 302, you guys need to keep it down in there!" (mind you he was yelling)
Us (in unison): "WHAT?!? We're sleeping!"
Neighbor: "You better keep it down in there or I'm calling Security!"
Scott: Go ahead! Call 'em! Call 'em! (There may have been an eff bomb in here somewhere but it's whereabouts are unknown)
Neighbor: "Keep! it! down!!" (stomps off down the stairs)

Dumbfounded. Ok, first off, we were sleeping. Second off, what the heck was this guy hearing that made him stomp his pajama wearing a$$ up the stairs at 4am to pound on our door and how is it that neither of us heard any of said ruckus.

Needless to say neither of us could go back to sleep, it took probably an hour and half before we both dozed off again. Not happy with the man in 302.

While we didn't hear ANY noise that warranted this behavior, it definitely solidified our reasoning for being on the top floor. We will never be the man from 302 banging on someones door at 4 am because all that is above us is God. ;)

  1. LOL, great story! What the heck! People are seriously crazy and that totally sucks that pajama man thought you guys were the ones with the ruckus. At least you're smart enough to not open the door....apparently I still am NOT. I opened the door to a complete stranger last night at 8 pm thinking it was Erica's husband there to pick them up even though I knew she had the car and she was the one going to pick him up. Doh! Such an airhead....shh don't tell B ;)
