Ode to a Sister - Happy Birthday Nicole

Happiest of birthdays to my bestest and sister! She and her new gorgeous do are fabulously joining the 30 club on Sunday. Let's take a trip down memory lane shall we?

#1: Oldest and possibly favorite memory ever: 

Watching Hedwig fly into the chip bowl on repeat, laughing hysterically while eating a box of corn frosted flakes...each.

The rest of these aren't necessarily in order, but came to mind in this order ;)

#2: "Nicole! Nicole! Who is that?!"

In our young days, before she had ever met Sir Oli, she was dating this guy who happened to have an ex-girlfriend who's name was also Nicole and who also happened to work at Nordstrom with the rest of us (different department). One night we were all at party, I hit the keg a little too hard that night, very unlike me. Let's just say I had a rockin' buzz.  Anyways, Nicole and bf were on the opposite side of the room than the keg, which is where I happened to be frequenting and which was also near the door. Door opens and girl walks in. I kid you not, it was straight out of a movie. The room went silent and into slow motion. Nic and bf are staring at said girl as and are very uncomfortable. Unbeknownst to me, this is ex-girlfriend Nicole.  I proceed to yell to my Nicole (across the room) "NICOLE!!! NICOLE!!! Who is that?!? (pointy in other ex-Nicole's face mind you). And it was like she was ignoring me so I had to ask yell twice. Finally, my Nic proceeds to tell me in farsi (cause we are cool like that) that its the ex. I turn and look at the girl with a shrug of the shoulders and just say "oh...hmmm"

#3: His last name is Khakhshooey? 

This is all I'm going to say about this, Nic knows.

#4: The day Oli popped the magical question (photo above was from that day)

I was lucky enough to be wine tasting at the winery right next door to where Oli popped the question. This was probably the most amazing way any girl could ever find out that her best friend was engaged. Here is a very short version. We had known that we'd each be in Napa for the weekend and said if it worked out we should meet up even for just a little bit. Just so happened that we were at neighboring wineries at the exact same moment, it was fate! Little did we know that Oli had a plan of his own for that day. :) Nic and Oli showed up as we were picnicking and  as they walked up the sun caught her rock and I screamed followed by immediate waterworks. Not just watery eyes...full on crying. Loved 

that day. Priceless. 

#5: The Avril Lavigne Concert. 

HA! Who would have thought that this would make the list. I don't know if it was all the booze we were drinking or the fact that we danced the night away singing at the top our lungs. 

#6: How about the time she spilled her entire drink over her head trying to hide in our hotel bathroom because we had too many girls in the room and security was at the door.

#7: So glad you married "your friend from work" :) San Diego was a good time.

#8: I have to say your wedding was "the biggest party of the year" and even those my knees were weak and my voice felt like it was quivering, I loved giving that speech.

#9 That night at the Greenery. Afterward we danced in the drive thru line of Jack in the Box. RIP the civic

I feel like I've left out some momentous occasions so we'll just have to reminisce over them the next time we are together. So glad we met and rocked our 20's together. Cheers to many more great memories to come!
