Mint App - Managing your budget

If you've been reading along, you all know that I recently moved and am back in the world of paying rent. Looks like it's time to start budgeting that bank account....yay grrrr.  I scoured (guess how many red underlines I had to go through to finally spell that word correctly? 5! Computers are making us dumber by the second) the internet for a good budgeting app for my phone. Had to be a free app of course because we are budgeting here. After all my research I decided on Mint. Here is the app for android  and iphone.

 My favorite part is the pie chart it shows me when I open it up. Here is my issue, I'd really prefer my pie chart to be showing more of the light blue color because that means shopping. Instead I'm showing a whole lot of yellow...food and dining. As you can see, this month has some blue, but those were gifts for other people so I feel like there should be a whole other category for gift buying as that is not technically shopping, since it's not for me.

There is a budget tab. I'm not sure how I feel about that though. For one, it has set my shopping budget at $120 A MONTH. I think there is an error here, can that be right?! I think I need to find out how to adjust that part of the budget, that one needs to be at least a 2. And I'm already over budget for the month, obviously, wouldn't anyone be with that kind of a budget?

While I don't like this thing telling me how much shopping I should do, I do like to see where my money is going. This month I'm apparently over my $37 allotment for Coffee Shops as well. And if you think about it, if I cut out that $37 at coffee shops I'll have $444 at the end of the year. So long Starbucks, momma wants to go shopping. 

All in all, I recommend this app. Check it out and see where your money is going. Hopefully they'll give you a better shopping allowance too.
