I'm in love with a man named Louis...Vuitton

If you read my 30 before 30 blog you'll know that one of the items on my list was to buy myself something expensive that I love. Over the years I've always been enamored by the Damier Ebene Louis Vuitton handbags. There is something about the check pattern that has always called to me more than the "classic" Monogram LV. I say "classic" because, as I learned, the classic pattern is actually the Damier Ebene which was designed by Louis Vuitton himself and was the original collection. The Monogram LV was actually by his son and the Damier Azur by his grandson. This piece of information solidified my love for this pattern; it is classic and timeless. It is also said that the only bag Coco Chanel was photographed carrying besides her own was the Damier Ebene Alma bag. That almost made me by the Alma, but she is not an everyday bag, so I refrained.

This was my first trip into the Louis Vuitton store and while at first it is a little uncomfortable, I warmed up quickly thanks to the amazing saleswoman. She was the essence of class and warmth. Her knowledge of the history of the brand was not only impressive but genuine. You can't buy history and with a brand like Louis Vuitton it's refreshing to work with someone who is passionate about the brand, not only because they are employed by it, but because they have followed its legacy for life. I had an absolutely wonderful experience and after much contemplation, I walked out with my very own Damier Ebene Louis Vuitton. I'm so proud of myself for making the leap. I work hard, I save my money, I rarely splurge and this was something I've always wanted. Special thanks to a few people who gave me some birthday money that helped keep my bank account intact. Thank you to my sis Nicole Style, Ken Ohlendorf and Grandpa and Max. Here she is...
