Did you know that antiperspirant can make you smell worse?
Yes, it's true...it's the aluminum salts in the antiperspirant which block certain good bacteria under your arms and leaving only the smelly ones. Yuck I know. So we should probably stop using antiperspirant and get some aluminum free alternatives. There are also lots of studies trying to link breast cancer with the aluminum in antiperspirant so might be worth making a switch. I think I'll try a few natural options and get back to you on my findings. Maybe something like this one
Did you know that an apple a day keeps the doctor and maybe even the fat away too?
According to prevention Apples contain fiber and polyphenols which feed healthy bacteria and help you to not over eat. The best apples to help you out in your quest are tart Granny Smiths.
How to Get a Head to Toe Glow.
-While you are shampooing your hair in the shower massage down the center of your scalp for 3-5 minutes
-Do facial acupressure (my mom is an accupuncturist so I 100% believe in this). Prevention gives you this handy chart of points to rub for 30 seconds each.
-Use a dry brush for a full body scrub before you shower. Start at your feet and work your way upwards with long strokes towards your heart. Skip your neck and face though.
I've been using a dry brush for a few months now and I love how it makes me feel.
The last one that I'm dying to try are Biobliss/wrinkle treatment patches. Patchology is only one of the recommended brands from Prevention but its the one for forehead wrinkles which is my problem area. After doing some research I found this blogger and her results looked great! You can get the product below from Bergdorf's or SkinStore.com with 20% off sitewide.
What do you think of the January wrap up?
Hope you all are enjoying this monthly post!

Great post girl! I need to try those Biobliss treatments! I've been trying to get rid of the fine wrinkles on my forehead for awhile!

Wow... I need some wrinkle help. Def need to try those! Have been meaning to switch to a healthy deodorant forever. I am going to do it!
ReplyDeleteLove this post. Im not the biggest fan of apples but have been eating them a lot lately as part of my new healthy lifestyle thingy .. haha I will say that they really do help with hunger!
ReplyDeleteI love the dry brush! And granny smith apples.
ReplyDeleteI have seen those Bio-bliss pads before and I am so intrigued! I want to try them for sure! I started using Tom's a while ago and love it!
ReplyDeleteGranny smith apples are my favorite! As a treat I cut them up and sprinkle salt on them. :) I'm planning on switching to a natural deodorant, but I'm still trying to get through the Secret Costco pack I bought ages ago, ugh! I want to try acupuncture, I've never done it and am curious. That forehead patch looks cool I wonder how long the results last.... they're pretty 'spensive
ReplyDeleteOhhh I'm gonna try that accupressure tip. Every once in a while I'll do a nighttime yoga routine that ends with some mild temple massage or something like that but nothing very extensive. This looks great!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to show my husband how to rub my face because I bet it feels fantastic! The health benefits are a double win ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously tho, I have a ton of apples in the fridge that I think I should start eating them!!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna remember the facial acupressure and I keep reading about this dry brushing thing, I think I def need to try it out.
Love this post ! :)
Happy February ! So scary how quickly January went by.
xx
What's a dry brush??? As in a hair brush that's dry and you brush your body with it? Tell me more!
ReplyDeleteAnd I actually had a Tom's in my bathroom which I apparently never tossed out from a while ago when I tried it. I used it on Monday and holy hell it was awful. TMI but it brought out the smell in me baaaad. Not sure if I continue using it, it'll actually work or if this just isn't for me. Maybe I'll try a different aluminum free one. For now, baking soda is the best natural B.O remedy :)
I would also love to know more about the dry brush - so interested to know what that's all about (maybe a future blog post??).
ReplyDeleteI need to get a dry brush, I have read so many great things about them. I also need to up my apple intake! So many good tips!
