Winter is a tough time of year for all of us. It's cold and rainy and just generally dreary. This year we've been super lucky here in Northern California and have had none of the afore mentioned weather. Can't complain about 75 degrees in January. Downside: Those of us who work only get to enjoy said gorgeous weather on the weekends. SAD FACE. This week I've been thinking about how we are constantly chasing daylight in winter. In the morning I leave as the sun is just rising above Mt. Diablo
and by the end of the day I'm chasing the sun for even the slightest of glimpses. AND I'm stuck in traffic for a minimum of 50 minutes to go 15 miles. Yup looks something like this....glorious.
On a happier note, have you all noticed that it's starting to get lighter when we get off work? I'm so excited for spring; one of my favorite times of the year. Persian New Year is fast approaching and I look forward to the 2-3 week celebrations all year long! You know what's funny about this weather? Some of the trees around here are just as confused as we are with this weather because they are blossoming early. Wish that meant that spring was here.
The point of this post was mostly just unloading that feeling of chasing daylight on a daily basis and what a struggle it is. I just want to see the sun!!! And not from my desk. So to try to combat this, I'm going to try to soak up some rays on my lunch hour and maybe take some walks instead of eating at my desk or in a restaurant. I think I should have written this post last week because (GASP) we have rain in the forecast for the next 2 days.
I know we need the rain, so I'll be thankful to have it cause that means I can keep taking daily showers this summer. But I'm hoping that once this little storm passes we'll be back to some warm weather and vitamin D. Grab your rain boots friends because the next 2 days are your only shot at wearing them in January!

Have I noticed that the days are getting longer?! HAVE I EVER! And I couldn't be happier about it too, the fact that it's still light out by the time I drive the grueling 30 minutes to get the 8.5 miles home (Yes, GASP is right....I thought I too was traveling 15 miles like you but noooope, just a measly 8.5 miles) is an absolute delight and I wouldn't trade it for anything :)))
