Seattle Double Play - Part 2

Since Thing 2 and I had just done a grand tour of Seattle two weeks earlier I decided I could play pseudo-tour guide to Scott for the weekend. Another perk of traveling so much for work is that you rack up the flyer miles on someone else's dollar. So with some of my points, and some of his own, Scott's flight was a mind blowing $5. Score, feels so good to fly free.

Scott and I had a bit better of a schedule on this trip since my work meeting was on Monday. We decided to fly into Seattle on Saturday with a 1:30 arrival so we could still sleep in, catch a peak (more like a listen) to the Gator game and still arrive in Seattle and have most of the day to explore.  This way we'd also have all day Saturday to ourselves before I had to head to my meeting Monday morning. Note to self, shoot for Monday morning meetings from now on.

After picking up our rental we headed straight to Pike's for grub. Per the usual they did not disappoint in the seafood department, take a look at these ginormous shrimps.

We had anticipated these being an appetizer but they turned out to be more like a small entree. Thankfully we were hungry and headed to Lowell's for some lunch. It started out as a party of two but not long into our meal we were joined by this guy..."excuse me hostess, change of plan, table for 3 please".

Complete with window pecking, squawking and eventually a face off between me and the bird. I may have taunted him with a fry or two and then he got bored and waddled off.

The rest of the afternoon and early evening was filled with a stop at the brewery for a taste of Pike's finest, the Kilt Lifter. I have found that I am quite fond of the amber/red ale's so this little number was right up my alley. Speaking of alley's, here is Gum Alley....who wouldn't like a wall full of gum. Strange.

Sunday fun day started off with brunch at the top of the space needle at Sky City Cafe. Brunch is actually quite reasonable since it includes the ride up to the top, a 3 course meal and 360 degree view of the Seattle thanks to the revolving restaurant. For all of you motion sensitive types, the movement is very slow and easy on the tummy, so fear not. Here's a glimpse of our delicious meal.

Scott's starter = Biscuits and Gravy
My starter = Berry Waffle

Scott's Entree = Berry Pancakes
My Entree = Benny's special (aka Crab Eggs Benedict) DELICIOUS

Scott's Dessert: Bread Pudding
My Dessert: Apple Cobbler
I know what you are thinking, I totally had the better order. :) In all seriousness, both of our meals were fantastic, I was just overly happy with my choices. So good and so much food. Don't forget the mimosa's, a requirement at brunch.

After our meal we headed down to real life and over to the Chihuly Garden and Glass. Even though Carla and I had recently visited the exhibit it was just as beautiful the second time around. AND I had Scott take this photo of me below, because I loved the one I took of Carla so much that I had to have one too. Why do you think we call ourselves Thing 1 and Thing 2. ;) You know why this is perfection? I didn't see this the first time through, but the name of the exhibit "The Persian Ceiling". Heaven. Just lovely. If you go here, be sure to lay on this bench and take in the beauty.

Got one of Scott too

Since we were right next door to hip Belltown, we decided it we should take a stroll through the streets and visit some of the local bars. We started out at Buckley's to catch the end of the Niner and Charger games. Sadly both of our teams tanked on this particular day. And to top it off apparently people in Seattle do not like the Niners, not very fun being a Niner fan in this bar. The tap selection was good and there was a Gator flag hanging front and center so what more could you ask for ;)

Next stop... The Rabbit Hole. Why this place? Because they have skeeball and they play Journey's greatest hits, that's why! I dominated Scotty in Skeeball, finally a game I can beat him at!!

Gracious loser...when I lose you won't see me this happy :)
We ended the night with a sushi dinner at Wasabi. I'm a big fan of Belltown and next time I go back to Seattle I'm going to stay and play in that neighborhood for sure. And per the tentative store roll out schedule for next year, it looks like I could have 5-6 trips for next year. Who's next!? Well maybe not next, cause that spot is reserved for either Val or Nicole for the next two trips. But that leaves at least 3 spots, get 'em while they're hot. :)

Thanks Scotty for the fun adventure and insisting that we play in Belltown. The trip wouldn't have been the same if we hadn't found that little diamond in the rough. Good times were had by all. One bourbon, one scotch, one beer.

Booses,
