Seattle - Double Play - Part 1

One of the perks of my job is that I get to travel from time to time. If you asked me at this time last year if I thought it was a perk I would have said "absolutely not!" There was a week last November that I was in 7 different airports in 8 days and at that point I was pretty much sick of the traveling. Now it has calmed down quite a bit and I only have to travel once every couple of months and mostly just on the west coast. YAY! It only took me a year and a half of all this traveling to decide it was time to start traveling with a buddy. I had two work trips two weeks apart and lucky for me Carla (Thing 2) and Scotty were each available for one of the trips! Weehoo, I didn't have to travel alone!

Trip one ended up being right before Thing 2's birthday, so it worked out perfectly. We decided to take a late night flight out on Thursday night and return Saturday evening. Our trip started out quite eventfully. We boarded the flight and sat for 15 minutes before the captain announced that they were having some issues with the navigations system. Que anxiety. He proceeds to say that we'll definitely want to have that working because the visibility in Seattle was 1/2 a mile. "Why, thanks for sharing that pilot man...not all of us get to sit in the cockpit in control of this flying beast. We have to sit back here and pray to God that you know what you are doing!" While there are times that I appreciate their honesty, like when they are telling us the weather in Seattle and to sit back and enjoy the smooth flight to the Emerald City. But when there are mechanical or technical difficulties I'd prefer them to keep those gems to themselves. Luckily, the flight was smooth and the navigation was working because I didn't see that runway until we were 10 feet over it. It was nice to be on the ground.

I had  a 2 hour meeting in the morning on Friday and then we were off to explore the Emerald City!! Here are some photos from the Adventures of Thing 1 and Thing 2 in Seattle!!

Hyatt Place, night one. Compliments of my work.

Post Alley...on our way to Pike Market. So excited that even her scarf couldn't be contained

There we go!

Flying Fish!!

Chihuly Garden  and Glass...breathtaking

I'm a little afraid of heights. Carla said I didn't have to go up to the top but if I didn't she'd yell "loser" down at me. I couldn't have that. Needless to say I was rooted to the spot in that half glass elevator.

But once we were up there I didn't want to leave.

Local favorite before heading onto the Ferris Wheel.

Another height concurring excursion.

This one didn't go as well as the first. The ferris wheel moved super slow and when you got to the top, it almost felt like it was stopped, it was a  bit creepy for us girls that don't like heights. They said 3 revolutions. As we were coming down from the 3rd revolution they weren't unloading any cars. You better believe that we were not going to be stuck at the top while they were unloading these things. Emergency red stop button was initiated. Best thing we ever did! It was also nice to have been released from Carla's death grip on my arm. ;) Bonding. haha

Thanks for coming with me Thing 2!!
Booses!
