Spokane for Business and coping with the anxiety

I've mentioned here before that I travel a little for work. I've also mentioned my fear of flying in this here confession. Thankfully my travel this year has been a lot less than it was last year and the previous year. I'll admit that I do enjoy that feeling of being a legit grown up and exploring some of these cities  on my own that I'd probably never visit if my company wasn't paying me to.
When I found out last week that I needed to go to Spokane, my flying fear kicked in immediately and the anxiety started. I seriously hate that this still happens to me after all of the flying that I do. I sound like I'm a complete nutter, but I'm actually not that bad, if I were I wouldn't get on planes as all. Maybe these little remedies I'm about to share are working.
I've been looking into some natural remedies for this little fear of mine, so here are some of the things that help me cope. I'm also looking into some spots to visit in the short 24 hours that I'll be in Spokane.
{Champagne}
Duh. One time I tried wine before a flight and I think it heightened my anxiety, so now I stick to beer or Champagne at the bar before my flight.

{Theanine Serene with Relora}

I went to the health food store this weekend and made a beeline for one of the health gurus and told her about my anxiety. She pointed me to these and said that it helped with stress and anxiety. Check and check. The other one she pointed me to was this.

{Rescue Remedy}

4 drops under your tongue and you are on your way to calming relaxation. I'll try anything.

{My Kindle}
Don't leave home without it. I seriously love that I can keep my kindle on from start to finish on the flight. Just dive straight into my book

{My Laptop}
I don't typically travel without my trusty mac and a copy of It's Complicated. My feel good movie of choice.

Ok, now onto what I'm going to try to see in my 24 hours in Spokane

{Spokane Falls}
Are these still running? If so, I''ll be perched on this bridge for as long as can.

They also have a Gondola ride that I think might be worth a try.

{St. John's Cathedral}
I'm a sucker for gothic architecture.

{Manito Park}

I think I need to move up my work appointment so I can have most of the day to see these sites!
Have you ever been to Spokane? Any recommendations?

Wish me luck on my trip and super smooth skies!

  1. wow! sounds like a great place to visit. i hate flying as well only because i get sick of being cooped up in a plane so i can do 4hrs max. if i have to do more - like when i flew to london/italy - i popped a valium which was awesome because i passed out and woke up at heathrow airport in london, holla! safe travels!!

  5. When the other woman (Cameron Diaz) comes out on video I think you should buy it and travel with it as an option to it's complicated. I LOVED THAT MOVIE and laughed till I cried! :)

  7. Have a safe trip and have fun in Spokane! My brother is an airline pilot and he constantly reminds me that we are immensely safer in an airplane than a car!
