Merry Christmas Everyone!
Since it's lyrical Wednesday, I've decided to put aside my grinchy ways and pick my favorite Christmas songs. I might be a little bit like this guy when I hear Christmas music playing in every store the day after Thanksgiving.
And if you have ever worked retail during the holidays you might understand why I feel this way. It's the same playlist every day. EVERY DAY. Fortunately as we approach the the week before Christmas I start feeling more like this
Maybe a little background on this topic is in order. As a kid we spent every Christmas eve at my Grandma's house, which is the same house we live in now. Christmas with my grandma was the best; she was an angel. Every year we'd have White Christmas on the tv and a blazing fire as we all gathered in the living room to open presents. She passed in 1998 and every year it still feels like something is missing. Maybe that's part of the reason that I don't get into the spirit until the week before, because it's sad that we didn't get to have her for longer. But thank God we had her for as long as we did. If I dig deep I can still hear her laugh in my head and I love it. I wish I could pick it from my brain (or maybe it's in my heart) and record it so I could hear it forever.
Anyways, this year my Christmas spirit kicked in a week before. I started to get excited about buying gifts for my family and all of a sudden want to go all out and empty my entire bank account. I do tend to buy things for myself along the way too so that makes it even more fun. For me, I enjoy the giving of the holiday, the receiving is nice of course but I've never been a list giver. A lot of people give a list to their families, but that's never really been me; my 'want' list is always pretty short. Whenever anyone asks me what I want I can never come up with anything except maybe some little makeup item. So strange.
In the years since my grandma passed we've been rotating Christmas eve between our house and my Gramp's and Aunt's house and we've made some great memories. We've pretty much settled at Gramps place with the dancing Santa that scares the drink out of my hand every year (no joke). I walked by last night to get the door and that guy kicked on and I jumped and so did my drink. We are so lucky to have the Patriarch of our family still with us and he is probably the most in shape and healthy guy you've ever seen. I definitely enjoy us bonding over champagne, a vodka martini and glass of wine (traditional order).
My favorite Christmas song, shouldn't surprise you if you read any of my earlier lyrical love posts, is O Holy Night - Josh Groban's rendition because he is absolutely amazing.
Second favorite goes to Trans Siberian Orchestra- Christmas Canon, because I have always loved Canon, it's like heaven shining down on you, so here is the Christmas version.
Third Place also goes to Trans Siberian - Christmas Eve
Merry Christmas Everyone!

Oh Holy "I'll be Home for Christmas"! Was the Song that gets me every year, which was the song my Mom, walked into the house with, very ill. It was our last Christmas together, and even as I write now, tears stream 15 years later, Christmas Day, brought on by your Beautiful Memories, old and new, put here for us to read. I knew I didn't have chance of escaping once I started reading, I feel the same Shenine. Thank you for bringing it back to me today, no matter how painful. Merry Christmas my Angel...sniff, sniff...
